Although it's become something of a modern B-movie institution by this point, the 'Resident Evil' film series has never sat particularly well with many fans of the original video games. However, fans have taken solace with Capcom's animated adaptations of the game series, which stick a bit closer to the tone of the source material. The first trailer for 'Resident Evil: Damnation,' the follow-up to 2008's 'Resident Evil: Regeneration,' premiered at Comic Con and is now online for your viewing pleasure.

Like its predecesor, 'Resident Evil: Damnation' features the character of Leon Kennedy, a mainstay of the game series who has yet to appear in the live action films. The trailer doesn't give too many details, instead choosing to focus on Leon and company doing their best to survive an onslaught of mutants and zombies and nefarious corporate foes and the like. There's also the introduction of a certain character who will elicit cheers from diehard fans and non-committal shrugs from everyone else.

'Resident Evil: Damnation' arrives in Japan this October and will make its way to the United States (presumably straight to disc) shortly after.
