Nobody panic, but it seems that 'Community' season 4 is definitely going to take things in a different direction, though not in the regard you're thinking.  While season 3 of the Greendale Gang's exploits introduced Omar Little (Michael K. Williams) as just about the scariest professor we could imagine, season 4 is instead turning to British, unimposing-seeming actor Matt Lucas.  What will the character teach the group, and what secrets of his own might he be hiding?

TVLine is reporting that 'Little Britain' and 'Bridesmaids' star Matt Lucas will school the Greendale 7, taking a multi-episode role in 'Community' season 4 as a professor.  Though the character's name has not yet been revealed, Lucas will play the part of a history professor who used to teach at Oxford, and whose "commitment to academic rigor is a challenge to the community college’s learning environment."  It's also said that the character likely has a few difficulties in his own life as well.

Best known to American audiences for his 'Bridesmaids' turn as Kristen Wiig's roommate Gil, Lucas' casting is the first significant guest star announcement for 'Community' season 4, which has previously been said to introduce Jeff Winger (Joel McHale)'s father.  Of course, 'Community' season 4 is also the first under new show-runners Moses Port and David Guarascio, following Dan Harmon's infamous firing.  Harmon seems to be doing fairly well these days anyway.

What say you?  Are you still optimistic about 'Community's fourth season, now that guest stars are starting to take shape?  Will the show succeed past its thirteen-episode order, debuting on Friday, October 19?  Give us your take on Matt Lucas' casting in the comments below!
