'Community' season 5 may only consist of the same 13 episodes of its predecessor and could well close the series, but however much Greendale remains in our future, the campus seems to be blowing up with star power. 'SNL' alum and 'How I Met Your Mother' star Chris Elliott is the latest to pop up in 'Community' season 5 in 2014, but what connection might he have to the Greendale gang?

It remains to be seen which of 'Community''s 2014 episodes will feature Elliott, though we know him to be playing Russell Borchert, eccentric founder to the mysterious Greendale Community College, who purportedly disappeared after a sex scandal decades earlier. Considing Jeff (Joel McHale) will become more embroiled with Greendale than ever this year, it certainly makes sense we'd see a bit more of its bizarre history.

In addition to ‘Arrested Development‘ star David Cross‘ guest turn as the onscreen son of Jonathan Banks, ‘Community’ season 5 will also see ‘Arrested’ creator Mitch Hurwitz guesting as a popular Greendale student, ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan as “a smooth-talking gold digger,” Nathan Fillion guest starring as a mysterious janitor, ‘Justified”s Walton Goggins as a private investigator, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim as associates of Dean Pelton, along with returns from Brie Larson, LeVar Burton, Rob Corddry and John Oliver’s Professor Duncan.

You can check out the first teaser from 'Community' season 5 (returning January 2) below, and tell us in the comments who you'd like to see roaming the Greendale halls this year!
