When last we heard of 'Community' season 6's miraculous Yahoo return, things looked a bit dire for the Greendale gang as Yvette Nicole Brown hung up the role of Shirley and departed the series. Now, the series' sixth season has formally begun adding its newest study group cast members, that of Paget Brewster and 'Enlisted' veteran Keith David!

Per Yahoo's announcement, David will play the role of retired scientist Elroy Patashnik, who comes to Greendale to revinvent himself, though whether as student or teacher is unclear. Curiously, Brewster guested last season as the school's IT department head Debra, but this time around will play Francesca "Frankie" Dart, a consultant brought in to help whip the school into shape.

Elsewhere, we know of 'Community' season 6 that creator Dan Harmon and executive producer Chris McKenna will remain at the helm, while cast members Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Danny Pudi, and Ken Jeong have all signed on to return. Dan Harmon suggested that John Oliver could potentially return as 'Last Week Tonight' allowed, while any inclusion of Donald Glover might be reserved for the seemingly inevitable movie, and Jonathan Banks will be busy with 'Better Call Saul.'

Production is set to begin next week, while Harmon himself has suggested we might see the 'Community' season 6 premiere (directed by the Russo brothers) in early 2015. Production is also expected to keep the series in a weekly format, rather than Netflix's "all at once' model.

Both fine additions to 'Community,' however curious Brewster's return in a different role seems (Abed will surely point it out), but what say you? Are you happy to see 'Community' season 6 shaping up with new members? What do you hope to see by the Greendale gang's 2015 return?
