We’re still pinching ourselves at the notion that ‘Community’ survived to its sixth season after all, but Yahoo Screen will have much more than a pinch this March. The Greendale gang has officially set a March return for the ostensibly final season of ‘Community’ (assuming #SixSeasonsAndAMovie), also revealing their episode schedule.
Per the ongoing TCA press tour panel, ‘Community’ season 6 will premiere on Yahoo Screen with two all-new episodes on St. Patrick’s Day itself, March 17. Subsequent episodes will premiere on Tuesdays, one per week. As to whether or not we can truly expect ‘Community’ season 6 to wind up the last season, creator Dan Harmon said at the panel “I definitely am not writing it like it’s the end.”
Oh, and rest easy. There will be no Chevy Chase. Other details for the panel included that ‘Last Week Tonight’ star John Oliver was unlikely to return, given the scheduling, as with ‘Better Call Saul’ star Jonathan Banks. Yvette Nicole Brown’s departure will be addressed early on, leaving the door open for a return, while Harmon previewed that the sixth season would feel more “grounded,” and utilize less, if any of the high-concept episodes the show had become known for.
Elsewhere, we know of ‘Community’ season 6 that creator Dan Harmon and executive producer Chris McKenna will remain at the helm, while cast members Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, and Ken Jeong have all signed on to return. Harmon previously suggested that any inclusion of Donald Glover might be reserved for the seemingly inevitable movie, though he hopes the actor could return. We’ll at least have Keith David and Paget Brewster arriving to fill the gap of Yvette Nicole Brown’s departure, along with a few other ‘Clue’-less cameos to enjoy.
Stay tuned for the latest on ‘Community’ season 6 as it arrives, and tell us if you’ll tune into Yahoo Screen (however one does that) for the March 17 premiere!
