Live-action adaptations of beloved anime have a spotty track record these days, but can TV succeed where movies fail? We’ll find out with a live-action TV adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, now in development with the studio behind our new Snowpiercer.

Per Variety, Tomorrow Studios will partner with ITV Studios, Marty Adelstein and the original anime’s Sunrise Inc. for a new live-action TV take on the 1998 series, which follows a crew of stylish bounty hunters in the year 2071. Thor: Ragnarok and Star Wars Rebels writer Chris Yost will pen the new adaptation.

The original Cowboy Bebop follows Spike Spiegel and his “cowboy” crew of Jet Black, Faye Valentine, Edward Wong and a hyper-intelligent Corgi (!) named Ein as bounty hunters to a colonized solar system. The series got its own feature film in 2001, also becoming the first anime series broadcast on Adult Swim, among its wide western popularity.

It’s early yet, and no network is attached, but what should we hope for from a live-action Cowboy Bebop TV series?
