Although Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim 2 might not be happening anymore, we still have Crimson Peak on the horizon. We have two new clips from the director’s gothic horror story, which looks incredibly gorgeous and terribly spooky — though you probably don’t need these clips to sell you on del Toro’s latest, do you?

In the first clip above, Mia Wasikowska’s character encounters strange noises in the hallway of the elaborate gothic mansion, leading to a horrific encounter with a ghost. As we’ve seen in the previous trailers, the ghosts of Crimson Peak have a very specific, dreadful appearance, showcasing the sort of dark creativity we’ve come to expect from del Toro.

The second clip below features a passive aggressive encounter between Wasikowska’s Edith and Jessica Chastain’s Lucille when the former attempts to settle into her new home. As we learn in the clip, the blood-like water running from the pipes in the house is from the clay on which the foundation was built — though its resemblance to actual blood is quite striking.

When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger, a young woman is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever. Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak.

Crimson Peak also stars Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam, and arrives in theaters on October 16.
