Last year’s New York Comic-Con brought us our first look at Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil, and while Jessica Jones understandably pulled some spotlight this year, Matt Murdock is back with some punishing new enemies. Find out what we saw in the first official Daredevil Season 2 footage from NYCC 2015!

As with last year, don’t expect any of the actual footage to make it online just yet, though the panel began with a quick montage of action from the first season, before delving into a few short Season 2 glances. We saw the holy trio of Matt, Foggy and Karen in a church, some suited-up images of Daredevil on the prowl, and our first look at Elodie Yung’s Elektra putting on her mask. Matt also took in another confession, claiming that he still felt guilty, to which his priest offers:

Guilt can be good. It’s the soul’s call to action. indication that your work is not yet finished.

Undoubtedly most exciting of all, following a shot of spent bullet casings at a crime scene, and what looked like Karen holding up an x-ray type image of a skull logo, was a look at Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle stalking down a hospital corridor with a gun. We don’t quite see his face, but tremble in fear at the one spoken line of dialogue: “Beg.”

New co-showrunner Marco Ramirez joked of the new season, “If you wanted grounded, you wanted dark, here’s Elektra, here’s Punisher. You asked for it!” Added Bernthal of the “honor” of portraying the Punisher:

I know how important this character is to you guys and I know how important this show is to you guys and I know how important he is to law enforcement ad the military and I look at this as a huge honor, a huge responsibility and I give you my absolute word that I’m going to give you everything I have.

Elsewhere of Daredevil Season 2, we know for sure that Rosario Dawson has been confirmed to reprise her role as Claire Temple, along with Scott Glenn’s Stick. Additionally, past Jason Statham / Bullseye reports listed Marvel’s Mister Fear and Spider-Man villain Mysterio as potential villains for the season as well, though no confirmations have emerged. Drew Goddard remains aboard as a consultant, though the series has changed showrunners from Steven DeKnight to Marco Rodriguez and Doug Petrie.

Netflix’s Daredevil returns for Season 2 in 2016, but what else might we learn in the weeks to come?
