Last night brought bad news from Paramount for Friday the 13th fan looking forward to the long-delayed reboot (or good news for those not wanting it to happen). But it also gave Darren Aronofsky fans something to get hyped about. We finally have a date for the director’s next project.

Paramount's mother!, which now has a lower case “M” and an exclamation point, in line with our own excitement for this mysterious new feature, has taken over the former horror reboot’s release date of October 13. According to Deadline, the film revolves around “a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.” We don’t know much more, but that’s enough to keep this one high on my most anticipated list.

The film’s cast includes Jennifer LawrenceMichelle Pfeiffer, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Domhnall Gleeson. The release date suggests mother! will likely be vying for a fall festival debut at Toronto, Telluride, Venice, and/or New York, but it also points to a possible big comeback for Pfeiffer. The first rumblings of a comeback for the actress came out of Sundance last month following the well-received premiere of her drama Where Is Kyra? I haven’t seen it nor do I know anything about her role in mother!, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the two put her back in the spotlight. Till then, we’ll have to hold ourselves over with a Aronofsky-produced Arnold Schwarzenegger out this spring.
