The Deadpool movies are known for bringing a hard-R rating to the superhero genre. But what’s a tamer version of Deadpool look like? We’re about to find out.

Fox announced an updated release schedule on Friday afternoon, and the new dates included something surprising: on December 21, a new Deadpool movie is coming out, and it’ll will be rated PG-13. That date pits it against some major movies including the new Transformers spinoff Bumblebee and Aquaman the week prior. Considering that Deadpool 2 opened just four months ago, there’s no way this could be a new movie starring Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth, right? Did Fox cook up the X-Force movie in a secret lab in a matter of months? According to Deadline, this ‘Untitled Deadpool Movie’ will be a kid-friendly re-release of Deadpool 2. That is… bizarre. But wait, it’s about to get weirder.

Just before the release date news broke, Reynolds tweeted this photo:

Why is Deadpool reading Fred Savage a bedtime story? Are we getting a Princess PrideDeadpool crossover? Well, kinda. According to one rumor, it sounds like Deadpool will be stepping into the late Peter Falk’s shoes to read a grown-up Savage (reprising his role from the 1987 movie) a bedtime story. That story would apparently be a kid-appropriate version of the Deadpool sequel. Still, bizarre.

The other big release date news concerns the next X-Men movie. Dark Phoenix just had a new trailer drop this week – like, yesterday – announcing the film was opening February 14, 2019. But now the film has been delayed (again) to June 7 of next year. Will this movie ever come out?! That used to be the release date for Gambit, which we learned is apparently a romantic comedy (are we living in the superhero Twilight Zone today?), which now has a new release date of March 13, 2020. And lastly, James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’ Alita: Battle Angel has been pushed from December 21 to Dark Phoenix‘s old release date, next Valentine’s Day.
