Aww, isn't it nice when TV enemies get to make-up on another show?  Sure they both died on 'Dexter' (spoilers!), but new life always springs forth on Syfy!  Julie Benz, perhaps best known to American audiences as 'Dexter's late wife Rita Morgan (or even Darla of 'Angel' fame) has landed a plum new gig on Syfy's upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller 'Defiance,' along with another of 'Dexter's past on-screen loves Jaime Murray.

According to the news from Deadline, 'Defiance' sets the stage in a world where humans and aliens live together on a planet ravaged by decades of war and transformed by alien terra-forming machines, centering on Jeb Nolan ('True Blood's Grant Bowler), the law-keeper in a bustling frontier town considered to be one of the new world’s few oasis of civility and inclusion. Benz takes the role of his wife Amanda Rosewater, the newly appointed mayor of the mining colony who desperately tries to maintain peace in the community.

Murray will play the “beautiful and proper” wife of Datak ('Pillars of the Earth's Tony Curran), a member of an elite alien race, joining fellow British actress Stephanie Leonidas, cast as an extraterrestrial warrior woman.  The series is written/executive produced by 'Farscape' creator Rockne S. O’Bannon, and developed concurrently with an online video game.

While real-life friends Benz and Murray haven't been seen on-screen together since 'Dexter,' Benz has bounced around dramas such as ABC flop 'No Ordinary Family' and CBS' 'A Gifted Man'.  Murray has held plenty of post-'Dexter' success as well, with turns in 'Spartacus: Gods of the Arena' and currently on The CW's 'Ringer'.

With Rita and Lila re-uniting, can Michael C. Hall be far behind?  Yes, probably, but it's still fun to dream!  Will you check out the latest alien far from Syfy, or does 'Defiance' seem to far-fetched to you?  Give us your most existential theories in the comments below!
