A Good Day for ‘Die Hard 5′ as Film Casts Its Villains
With the fifth installment of the 'Die Hard' franchise gearing up and on track for a 2013 release, it looks like the film may have found an excellent German actor and a newcomer to follow in the footsteps of Hans Gruber as John McClane's nemeses.
Acclaimed German star Sebastian Koch and unknown Yuliya Snigir have joined the cast of 'A Good Day to Die Hard' (rumored title) as 'Komorov' and 'Irina' respectively. Both characters are "believed to be villainous in nature," according to the report from Variety.
Koch is best known to international and U.S audiences for his leading role in the brilliant 2006 film 'The Lives of Others,' which won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Koch appeared as an East German playwright whose life unravels when the secret police begin spying on him.
Snigir is a Russian actress and model (link NSFW) who has only previously appeared in films made in her homeland.
Both join Bruce Willis as John McClane and Jai Courtney as his estranged son Jack, who must fight to save each other and the world in that inimitable McClane style.
The movie is set in Russia and is being directed by John Moore ('Max Payne') from a screenplay by Skip Woods, with the film set for release on February 14th, 2013. And if you're wondering why they're making a fifth movie, 'Live Free or Die Hard' grossed $383 million worldwide. Does that answer your question?
