Man, what a strange looking poster.

As well it should. This is Doctor Strange we’re talking about, Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme and the defender of their cinematic universe from every nasty magical and other-dimensional evil imaginable. With Captain America: Civil War just days away, the promotional campaign for Marvel’s next movie is already ramping up. Which means we’re getting our first teaser trailer for Doctor Strange tonight, and we got our first poster for the movie just a few minutes ago on Twitter:

And here’s a version you can make bigger. (To get the full effect, scream “By the Vapors of Valtorr!” while you do it.)

Marvel zombies will recognize that distinctive window from Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, his home and base of operations in New York City’s Greenwich Village, where he lives with his sidekick and servant Wong. The window has been a defining characteristic of the building (supposedly located at 177A Bleecker Street) since Strange’s earliest days, when he was being written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko. If you’re a fan of those great classic comics (and you should be, they’re some of the best Marvel ever produced during the Silver Age), this poster has to get you excited. (If you’re a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch, well, just go look at this picture one more time, we’ll sure you’ll see plenty more of him in that great Dr. Strange costume soon enough.)

Doctor Strange, which also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton, opens in theaters on November 4.
