Throw away your history books, and start breaking out the glasses, we're all about to get a real education!  A wildly popular (and very educational) web series may just make the leap to full prime-time when Comedy Central picks up a new comedy pilot this fall.

According to the latest report from Deadline TV, Comedy Central has ordered a pilot based on the popular Funny Or Die web-series 'Drunk History,' to be expanded into 'Drunk History Across America.'  The half-hour pilot episode will be produced by legendary funnyman Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy, all of whom will will executive produce with web series creator Derek Waters, director and Owen Burke.

Whereas the web series features celebrities reenacting the sauced narrations of its historical hosts, 'Drunk History Across America' will expand the scope further to include travel elements and interviews with the city’s locals who will also drunkenly narrate local and personal history.  Past celebrities to appear in the reenactments, and possibly appear on the series include Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey, Ryan Gosling, Jack Black, Don Cheadle, Michael Cera, Zooey Deschanel, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Jason Ritter and Danny McBride.

Though it remains to be seen if the pilot will be picked up to series, the web version has garnered millions of hits for both YouTube and Funny or Die, as well as receiving a Jury Prize for Best American Short Film at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival for a clip featuring Will Ferrell and Don Cheadle.

What say you?  Can 'Drunk History' make it as a full half-hour series, or is the humor, like tequila, best left in small doses?  Which short is your favorite?  Check out Will Ferrell as Abe Lincoln in the video below, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
