Aardman Animations brought us the story of a group of chickens escaping the coop and a cheese-loving inventor and his dog. Now the British animation studio behind Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit is going back to prehistoric times for the story of a caveman and his sidekick pig, Hognob.

Early Man follows caveman Dug, voiced by a nearly unrecognizable Eddie Redmayne (maybe it was the ratty hair and giant claymation teeth that threw me off). The teaser playfully pokes fun at climatic movie scores when Dug goes in for the kill when hunting rabbit, only to turn around and tell his fellow instrument-playing cave-folk to cut the music. The film follows Dug as he leads his tribe against Lord Nooth, voiced by Tom Hiddleston. Here’s the full synopsis:

Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of how plucky caveman Dug (voiced by Eddie Redmayne), along with sidekick Hognob, unites his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in a battle to beat them at their own game.

Directed by Aardman veteran Nick Park, the rest of the voice cast includes Timothy Spall, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, Selina Griffiths, and Richard Ayoade. Early Man hits theaters in January 2018.
