Oh young Hollywood, they grow up so fast. Elle Fanning is getting her hand in on a number of projects which includes the adaptation of 'Olive's Ocean.'

Fanning is attached to star in the film based off the novel written by Kevin Henkes. The script will be written by Christina Hammonds Reed and will more than likely start up production in the spring of next year. Another part about this project that stands out is it's independent financing. Deadline reports that the picture will be made for eleven million, bare bones compared to the number of blockbuster budgets we're used to but this is a rather intriguing character piece.

'Olive's Ocean' centers on a teenager who discovers that a classmate who recently committed suicide was desperate to grab her attention and become her friend. After this startling discovery, our main character proceeds to go on a summer-long soul search.

Another cool fact about this movie is it's initial conception. While Elle's sister Dakota Fanning was in the midst of filming her role in 'Effie,' producer Donald Rosenfeld approached her asking what's her favorite book. Once she stated that it was 'Olive's Ocean,' the wheels of development began churning that day. Elle Fanning is currently filming her role in Disney's 'Maleficent.'
