We have little under a year to go before we get to see Gavin Hood's long-awaited adaptation of 'Ender's Game', but it appears as though we're beginning to get immersed in the beloved futuristic world created by author Orson Scott Card.

Case in point: today brings us a brand new photo from the film, featuring an imposing Harrison Ford and the film's young hero, played by 'Hugo' star Asa Butterfield. See the full image after the break.

In the film, Ford plays Colonel Graff, while Butterfield is Ender, who just happens to be the only hope the human race has of survival against their extraterrestrial enemies, the Formics. According to Entertainment Weekly, the two are squaring off here because Ender's emails home are possibly being blocked. This is just one conflict between the two, although it's likely that Graff is just practicing some very tough love on the youngster.

'Ender's Game', which also stars Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, and Viola Davis, opens on November 1, 2013. Here's the official synopsis:

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.
