We haven’t even had the privilege of seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which will have its world premiere on Monday, December 14 in Hollywood. But that hasn’t stopped the press from asking Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams about Rian Johnson‘s plans for Episode 8 — because we’re always onto the next big thing before the current big thing has even had a chance to play out. But if you want some potential Star Wars spoilers, read on.

Previously, J.J. Abrams confirmed that Andy Serkis’ shadowy villain Supreme Leader Snoke has a huge part to play in the new trilogy, as he’s sort of the guy pulling the strings behind Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren. Meanwhile, when asked about which character she loves the most, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy gushed over Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma, and said that she’d be back for Episode 8.

So that’s two characters officially confirmed to return for Episode 8, which means they definitely don’t die in The Force Awakens. As for who else we’ll see? Last chance to duck out of spoiler territory.

In a new interview with Mexican website Excelsior, Kennedy revealed that Rian Johnson will film part of Episode 8 in Mexico, and he’ll be joined by John Boyega and Oscar Isaac, reprising the roles of Finn and Poe Dameron. Also joining them is Star Wars newcomer Benicio Del Toro, who’s been cast in a mysterious new role. While it was initially reported that Del Toro would be playing a villainous type, the actor backtracked a bit and made his character’s morality seem a bit more ambiguous.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not playing a baddie, since Adam Driver recently told Empire that he didn’t think Kylo Ren was evil:

When they think of their actions as morally justified, it makes them dangerous and unpredictable. There’s no level they won’t go to to accomplish what they’re after. I never thought of the character as an evil person.

Del Toro could obviously be taking the same approach to his character.

The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18. Episode 8 arrives on May 26, 2017.
