It's a slow news week, so just a heads up: we're about to talk about women's hairstyles and their relationship to superhero movies.

Evangeline Lilly has only been confirmed so far as playing Hope van Dyne in 'Ant-Man', daughter of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne. In the comics, Janet is The Wasp, and many have speculated that, like how Hank Pym passes the mantle of Ant-Man to a younger version (Scott Lang, as played by Paul Rudd), Hope would take up the mantle of The Wasp. There's no confirmation yet, but Lilly showed off her 'Ant-Man' look and it certainly looks Wasp-y.

The 'Ant-Man' actress posted the following photo to her Instagram account, along with the caption, "How's my new do?"

We'll admit that it's a leap to try and guess what superhero role an actor is playing based on his/her hairdo, but hey, just the other day we were speculating on what superhero role an actor was playing based on the color of their socks, so...

That said, it would be strange if they gave a character everyone is kinda assuming will eventually become The Wasp, a haircut that is almost exactly like the haircut The Wasp has. Marvel has also long wanted to introduce The Wasp into the movie universe. One of Joss Whedon's early drafts of 'The Avengers' included The Wasp as a major part of the movie (and animatics were even developed that included the character). And, it would not be a great look for Marvel - who has battled the perception that they have a lack of female superheroes in their movies - if they included Hope van Dyne, but no Wasp. She's right there! Just make her The Wasp!!

As for 'Ant-Man' itself, it's filming this week in San Francisco, before moving to Atlanta to shoot indoors. The film goes a little something like this:

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

'Ant-Man' hits theaters on July 15, 2015.
