Science fiction and horror go together like corn syrup and red food coloring. However, there's no sci-fi scenario that's a better match for a horror movie than an alien abduction, which checks all of the right boxes. Ordinary family targeted by a malevolent force? Check. Truly creepy, unknowable bad guys who simply can't be stopped? Check. Plenty of opportunities for flashing lights and sudden loud noises? Check!  We have an exclusive clip from the upcoming (and appropriately titled) 'Alien Abduction,' which manages to fulfill all of those rhetorical suggestions in 80 seconds!

Horror fans who watch this clip may be instantly reminded of Jason Eisner's segment in the terrific 'V/H/S 2,' which also presented a rural alien invasion in a found footage format. Considering how effective that sequence was, there are far worse things we could compare 'Alien Abduction' to. The clip hits some familiar horror beats, but it does so effectively enough to get us interested in what happens next. This looks like the kind of movie you'd watch with your friends while staying at a cabin in the middle of nowhere.

The official description of the film is short and sweet, which means the film is hiding some big secrets or it's a straightforward, no-frills experience. We'd be satisfied with either outcome.

A vacationing family encounters an alien threat in this pulse-pounding thriller based on the real-life Brown Mountain Lights phenomenon in North Carolina.

'Alien Abduction' arrives on Earth, uh, in theaters and on VOD on April 4.
