The stars are aligning for the upcoming reboot of the 'Fantastic Four' franchise. First, the film found a young, hungry and talented director in Josh Trank, whose 'Chronicle' was one of the surprise hits of 2012. Then it landed a talented screenwriting team in Jeremy Slater and Michael Green. Of course, the whole thing has to actually work if it's going to be any good, but now we know how long these guys will have to make it work. The official release date for the new 'Fantastic Four' is...

...March 6, 2015! That's a little over two years from now, if you're curious and can't do math.

If you're wondering why 20th Century Fox is placing a potential tentpole in the Spring, all you've got to do is look to the summer, which is already stuffed with the likes of 'Avengers 2,' 'Justice League' and 'Star Wars: Episode VII.' This announcement pretty much makes 2015 the geekiest year in film history -- every month on the calendar seems to be bursting with all kinds of nerd bait.

We have no idea what to expect from the new 'Fantastic Four,' but there's no way it can be as bad as the previous two films, which took the comic's wonderful team/family dynamic and reduced it to the antics of a bad sitcom. 'Chronicle' did many things right, but one of them was creating fascinating, flawed characters in complicated relationships. If Trank can bring this attention to character detail to the new film, we may finally have a 'Fantastic Four' film worthy of the characters' 50 year history.
