For a while now, we’ve been hearing about this proposed Men in Black/Jump Street crossover movie. And just yesterday it was reported that Sony wants to make a female-driven Jump Street as well, utilizing a pair of writers from the brilliant and hilarious Broad City. Development on both of these ambitious projects has now been confirmed, so get ready to see Jump Street expand its universe in ways we never imagined.

When Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s 21 Jump Street movie was announced, no one could have anticipated how hilarious that film would be, much less the idea that the franchise would expand in such awesome ways. Following yesterday’s report, THR confirms that Sony is developing the female-centric 21 Jump Street spinoff with Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs penning the screenplay. That is, obviously, fantastic news — Broad City is one of the best, smartest and most vibrant comedies on television right now. The only way this news gets better is if Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson are cast in the leading roles.

The site also confirms that 21 Jump Street will crossover with Men in Black, which is rather ambitious and kind of crazy plan, but one that could prove to be kind of amazing. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are expected to reprise their roles for that film, although it’s unclear if the crossover is a separate entity from 23 Jump Street. Lord and Miller are overseeing the script for the third Jump Street film, which is being written by Rodney Rothman.
