The newly-revamped Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn has finally been dated for release, threatening massively-multiplayer online role-playing game fans with the prospect of sinking even more free time into a Final Fantasy game.

The game will be released on August 27th, 2013 for PlayStation 3 and PC, capping off the summer doldrums with a burst of MMORPG goodness.

A slew of pre-order incentives have also been announced, just to entice both fans old and new to jump on the Realm Reborn bandwagon. Pre-ordering will net you in-game content that includes the following:

  • Early Access: Get a head start and begin your adventures in Eorzea ahead of the pack.
  • Cait Sith Doll Minion: The famous Cait Sith will join your adventure as a non-combat pet.
  • Mog Cap: It's a Moogle-themed hat. 'Nuff said.
A Collector's Edition for the game has also been announced, giving hardcore Final Fantasy fans the chance to get even more goodies in return for their hard-earned dollars. The Collector's Edition will include:
  • Collector's box designed by the famed Yoshitaka Amano.
  • 80-page "Art of Eorzea" hardcover art book with exclusive concept art.
  • "The Waning of the Sixth Sun" bonus disc that offers a cinematic look at how the realm was reborn.
  • "Sounds of Eorzea" album featuring music from the series' composers.
  • Five collectable character art cards.
  • A Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn security token.
  • In-game bonus items: Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Coeurl Mount, and Behemoth Barding.
All of this goodness will cost $79.99 for the physical PlayStation 3 package, $69.99 for the physical PC package, and $49.99 for the PC digital download. If you're all about a no-frills experience, then the standard edition will cost $39.99 for PlayStation 3 and $29.99 for PC.
