Were you confused by the absence of Eggman (otherwise known as Dr. Robotnik), in the new trailer for Sonic: Lost World? Well, a press release came out today that sheds some light on the goings-on in the new game.

It turns out that Eggman is responsible for creating the Deadly Six, but suffered an uprising at their hands. Now that these beasties are on the loose, Eggman has no choice but to team up with Sonic in order to defeat them.

To help Sonic on his quest, he's got a variety of new parkour moves and Color Powers that will allow him to race through and navigate the ever-changing terrains.

The game will also pack some competitive multiplayer modes, so you can race with and hurl insults at your buddies.

The game is exclusive to the Wii U and the 3DS, so each version will have platform-specific controls. For example, the Wii U version will allow you to control Color Powers by tilting, touching, and aiming with GamePad.

The 3DS will enjoy exclusive stages and Color Powers, so players can enjoy the first, truly 3D Sonic game.

No hard release date has been set for the game, but it will be coming sometime this year. Let us know what you think of the Blue Blur's new adventure and his partnership with Eggman.
