FX Reloads ‘Justified’ For Season Four, Break Out the Moonshine!

I'm not going to pretend to spot some manner of Kentucky colloquialism or bother linking to a GIF of Boyd Crowder dancing, rather I'll just give you the quick draw on the good news for 'Justified' fans.

Deadline reports that FX has officially opted to renew Timothy Olyphant-vehicle and Elmore Leonard short story-adapted 'Justified' for a fourth season consisting of a full 13 episodes!  Currently in the midst of its third season, the modern gunslinger series from showrunner Graham Yost boasts about 4.3 million viewers per week for first-run episodes, with about 7 million total on repeats.

FX executive vice president of original programming Nick Grad says of the renewal that “'Justified' is one of television’s best series and this season has reinforced that excellence.  Graham Yost and his writing team continue to deliver compelling material and richly drawn characters brought to life by the brilliance of Timothy Olyphant and our terrific ensemble cast. Their work is validated by universal acclaim, awards, and ratings that have grown every year. We look forward to many more seasons to come.”

Similarly series creator Graham Yost adds "There are many reasons all of us on 'Justified' are grateful to get a chance to do another season.  We get to do more work with amazing actors, writers, producers, directors, musicians, editors and a jaw-droppingly talented crew."

The thirteen-episode renewal isn't quite as generous as, say 'Sons of Anarchy' being picked up for a fifth, and sixth season in the wake of its well-rated fourth, but we imagine the 'Justified' crew to be downing a glass of Mags Bennett's famous "Apple Pie" moonshine all the same.

If you're not watching the current season of 'Justified' on FX you definitely should be, with eighth episode "Watching the Detectives" airing tonight (for which we'll have a full recap), as Raylan Givens (Olyphant)'s conflict with mysterious Detroit mafia carpetbagger Robert Quarles (Neal McDonough) only intensifies!
