FXX’s surrealist Jay Baruchel dating comedy Man Seeking Woman hasn’t drafted as much attention as some of its cable brethren, but lives to fight another day. The network has officially announced that Josh’s outlandish quest for the right girl will continue on into 2016, giving Man Seeking Woman a Season 2 renewal.

Its second season to take place over 10 new episodes in 2016, FXX’s Man Seeking Woman draws from SNL writer Simon Rich’s book The Last Girlfriend on Earth, starring Baruchel as Josh Greenberg, along with comedian Eric André as best friend Mike. Often seen as a live-action cartoon, the series sees Josh enduring “one-night stands, painful break-ups, a blind date with a troll, time travel, sex aliens, many deaths and a Japanese penis monster named Tanaka on his fantastical journey to find love.”

Says FX of the renewal:

Simon Rich has delivered an incredibly smart and original take on the search for love. Critics and fans alike have embraced his unique storytelling, [EP] Jon Krisel’s stunning visuals and the brilliant performances of Jay Baruchel, Eric André and the rest of the cast that has made Man Seeking Woman one of the best new comedies on television.

FXX certainly operates on a lower ratings threshold, the same that saw critical darling You’re the Worst renewed for a second run later this year, but will Man Seeking Woman turn thing around in Season 2? Check out the latest preview below, and judge for yourself.
