We don't know about you, but the news that broke earlier today of HBO's 'Game of Thrones' delivering super-sized episodes for its third season beginning March 31 made us want to toast the series' honor. Thankfully, HBO has an answer for that too! The network has announced its collaboration with Brewery Ommegang to release a series of 'Game of Thrones'-inspired beers to coincide with the new season! Are you prepared to taste the Iron Throne? Details inside!

We fully admit to the occasional goblet of wine or flagon of ale during our Sunday night 'Game of Thrones' watching, but now HBO has given us the tools to do it in style. The network yesterday announced through the New York Times its intent to develop several 'Game of Thrones'-inspired beer flavors, to be sold in stores beginning with the season 3 March release.

First up will be the "Iron Throne Blonde Ale," available on draft and in 750ml bottles for the suggested retail price of $8.50 per bottle beginning mid to late March. Following its release, Ommegang will launch another of the 'Game of Thrones' beer in the fall and two additional beers in subsequent seasons.

Entertainment Weekly even managed to score the first look at packaging for the "Iron Throne Blonde Ale," which Brewery Ommegang brewmaster Phil Leinhart describes thusly: “With a Lannister currently on the throne, it made sense to do a delicate, but piercing Golden Blonde Ale with Noble hops. 'Iron Throne' is certainly fair in color and soft in appearance, yet it still possesses a complexity and bite to be on guard for.”

What say you? Will you stock your March 31 'Game of Thrones' season 3 premiere party with some Iron Throne Blonde Ale? Check out the first photo below!
