Ah, the Easter Egg.  One of cinema's modern delights.  And while the high production value of something as epic as HBO's 'Game of Thrones' would seemingly prevent the blockbuster fantasy series from skimming too lightly in such a somber moment, it would seem the production team managed to sneak in one major Easter Egg full of "strategery."

The crew of 'Game of Thrones' snuck in one very intriguing little background note during the filming of season 1 finale "Fire and Blood," including a mock-up of former President George W. Bush's head as one of the severed figures seen impaled on the wall of Kings' Landing!

In fact, the severed head prop was apparently utilized in multiple scenes, but don't get too excited.  No deliberate attempt to skewer (pun intended) the former president occurred, but rather the head was utilized out of necessity, covered in a wig, and turned slightly away from the camera to avoid any major recognition.  Show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explained (via Reddit) the severed head in the episode 10 DVD commentary, saying:

The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush's head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It's not a choice, it's not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had lying around.

Below we've included a video where you can just make out the head as Sansa observes the poor souls impaled on the wall spikes (try looking at 1:07), as well as an enlarged view of former President Bush beneath!  It's definitely him, so take a look and tell us how much you're anticipating the return of 'Game of Thrones' in the comments!
