What was it again?  Spring?  The McRib?  Half-priced Tuesdays at Calico Jack's?  No, that's right, it was winter!  Winter is coming!  Or at least, it was.  Now, WAR is coming!

'Game of Thrones' season 2 won't officially premiere until Sunday, April 1 (no, that's not an April Fools' prank), but HBO knows exactly to get our fires burning and blood boiling for our return trip to Westeros!  Scroll down below for your first look at the official 'Game of Thrones' season 2 poster, which highlights a weathered hand grasping the king's stag crown, as embers shower from an epic battle reflected in the crown's golden composition.

Season 2 of 'Game of Thrones' adapts its story from the second entry of George R.R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series, 'A Clash of Kings.'  In it, the "War of the Five Kings" begins while different factions vie for the throne of Westeros, left somewhat vacant by the death of King Robert Baratheon, and quickly usurped by his young (suspiciously blonde) son Prince Joffrey.

'Game of Thrones' season 2 brings a host of new faces to the HBO adaptation, though none occupy the otherwise bad-ass poster!  The first season placed Sean Bean's Ned Stark firmly front and center for its promotional campaign, but, well...Ned won't be coming out ahead this season, we should say.

Feast your eyes on the poster foreshadowing the upcoming War of the Five Kings, and be sure you tune in for the season premiere of 'Game of Thrones' April 1 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO!
