A few weeks ago we caught a brief look back at 'Game of Thrones' season 3 that went behind the scenes to show us some incredible effects, most notably the massive ice wall that Jon Snow and his Wildling cohorts scaled in "The Climb." Now, yet another, more expansive FX reel for 'Game of Thrones' season 3 has emerged, showing the incredible layers of Dany's dragons, and the massive armies seen over the course of the season!
Courtesy of Pixomondo, the newest FX reel for 'Game of Thrones' season 3 shows us the multiple layers that went into creating the growing dragons this year, including how actress Emilia Clarke would interact with the creatures by coddling a tennis ball on a stick, as is common with motion capture. Perhaps most impressive is that much of the final shots of "Mhysa" are revealed to have been illusions, with Dany's many soldiers copied over and over again for effect!
While we wait for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 4, HBO has cast in known roles Roger Ashton-Griffiths as Mace Tyrell, Indira Varma as Oberyn’s lover Ellaria Sand, and ‘Sherlock’ star Mark Gatiss as Tycho Nestoris. ‘Banshee‘ star Joseph Gatt will appear in a role speculated to be that of Wildling chieftan Styr, Magnar of Thenn, while ‘Treme”s Michiel Huisman will replace Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis, and Hafthor Julius Bjornsson will take over the role of Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane from Ian Whyte, among other recastings. Previous season characters Lysa Arryn (Kate Dickie), Ser Alliser Thorne (Owen Teale), Rorge (Andy Beckwith) and Janos Slynt (Dominic Carter) will likely all return, among others.
