‘Game of Thrones’ Season 3 Releases Pointy First Poster

A storm of swords, indeed!  As we learned a year ago when HBO began its promotional campaign for the second season of George R.R. Martin's fantasy drama epic 'Game of Thrones,' less is more when it comes to the posters.  Today, the network has released the first official promotional image for the show's third season, set to begin March 31 2013, and looking too carefully might just poke your eye out.  Get a sneak peek at 'Game of Thrones' season 3 inside!

Awesome, meet face.  HBO has released the first official teaser poster for 'Game of Thrones' season 3, setting the tone to come as we wait in agony until March 31 for the official debut.  Based on (the first half of) George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel "A Storm of Swords," the simplistic poster utilizes swords themselves to form a "3,' setting the stage for the bloody season to come.

'Game of Throne's season 3 will also introduce a host of new characters to be played by Ed Skrein, Jacob Anderson, Ciaran Hinds, Diana Rigg, Mackenzie Crook, Clive Russell, Nathalie Emannuel, Iwan Rheon, Kerry Ingram, Tara Fitzgerald, Paul Kaye, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ellie Kendirck, Richard Dormer, Kristofer Hivju, Philip McGinley, Tobias Menzies, Anton Lesser, and even Coldplay drummer Will Champion.
