Particularly for those who hadn't read George R.R. Martin's books, 'Game of Thrones' fans knew by the end of the first season that none of their favorite characters could be safe in the dangerous world of Westeros. So too did season 2 of the hit HBO fantasy drama see a number of favored characters ushered into the afterlife, but what of the upcoming third season? Unfortunately, the casting of another season 3 character seems to spell out doom for at least a few fan favorites...

Is the end nigh for 'Game of Thrones' season 3? That's what some fans would have you believe based on the latest casting, but we can know nothing for sure until the new season picks up in late March. According to 'Game of Thrones' fan site WinterIsComing, English actress Alexandra Dowling has been cast in the role of Roslin Frey, an otherwise minor role that ends up playing a larger part in a famous, bloody sequence from George R.R. Martin's novel 'A Storm of Swords.'

Keeping in mind potential spoilers, Roslin Frey was one of Walder Frey (David Bradley)'s daughters, given to marry Catelyn Stark's brother Lord Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies) in hopes of appeasing Walder for Robb Stark's betrayal. Robb had agreed to marry one of Frey's daughters in order for his army to cross river impasse castle The Twins, but later reneged to be with Jeyne Westerling (Oona Chaplin's Talisa Maegyr in the series).

Without giving too much away, let's just say that Walder Frey didn't let the Stark slight against his family slide so easily. Does Alexandra Dowling's casting as Roslin Frey confirm the famed 'Game of Thrones' event will take place this season? Give us your 'Game of Thrones' season 3 predictions in the comments!
