‘Game of Thrones’ Season 3 Includes a Brand New Setting

If there's one thing fans of HBO's George R.R. Martin-adapted mega hit 'Game of Thrones' love about the series, it's the incredible production value that sees a number of exotic shooting locations standing in for the many terrains of Westeros.  Not only have lush Ireland landscapes been utilized, but also the far away deserts of Croatia and the frozen wastelands of Iceland, so where will 'Game of Thrones' take us for season 3?

Filming on the hotly-anticipated season 3 of 'Game of Thrones' won't officially commence until July, and even then won't hit TV screens until likely April of 2013.  In the meantime, production is set to pick up in all three locations previously utilized for season 3, including Belfast, Ireland, and both Croatia and Iceland for Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow, respectively.  For 'Game of Thrones' Season 3, a fourth location has been added as well, that of Morocco!  Any guesses on who's story might take us there?

HBO's latest press release also unveiled a look at the writers and directors of season 3, most notably placing executive producers / show-runners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff in the director's chair for the first time.  We're betting there won't be any famous severed heads this outing.

Other directors include Alex Graves, Michelle MacLaren, Dan Minahan, David Nutter, and Alik Sakharov. Returning writers will include Weiss and Benioff, series creator and supreme overlord of Westeros George R.R. Martin, as well as Vanessa Taylor ("Garden of Bones," "The Old Gods and the New").
