HBO's 'Game of Thrones' season 4 may not have unfolded in any manner familiar to fans of the series, spacing out multiple climaxes throughout the 10-week run, though the fantasy drama undoubtedly reached an FX peak this year. Do you want to know how 'Game of Throne' brought to life giants riding mammoths, fighting skeletons or its biggest dragons yet? Watch this new FX reel from season 4 to find out!

Courtesy of Wired, the latest look behind the scenes of 'Game of Thrones' season 4 gives detailed insight into the multiple composite layers required to have one shot with actors posing as Mance Rayder's giants, simultaneously riding a CG creature, and attacking the Wall with Wildling forces as well. On the other side of Westeros, the video also reveals that Daenerys' dragons have gotten so big, that Emilia Clarke was made to act opposite actual sculpted dragon heads, unlike the stuffed models of previous seasons.

While we wait for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5, we at least know of a multitude of other new characters cast, including those that confirm we’ll be visiting the oft-mentioned kingdom of Dorne, for which Spain location shoots will double. We’ll also meet fewer new characters in season 5 than in prior years, as the next cycle will prove to be something of a midpoint for the series’ run. As expected, the story will draw heavily from George R.R. Martin‘s fourth and fifth novels, ‘A Feast for Crows’ and ‘A Dance with Dragons,' while HBO has also provided a list of directors.
