New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5 Photos Show Sand Snakes and Arya’s New Look
Game of Thrones Season 5 will soon swallow all our lives by its April 12 premiere, and before we settle into that familiar routine, the HBO fantasy drama wants to show us something new. Meet the Sand Snakes of Dorne in new photos from the fifth season, as well as another look at Arya’s new Braavos threads!
As debuted over Entertainment Weekly, four new photos show off dearly departed Prince Oberyn’s bastard daughters the “Sand Snakes,” including Obara (Keisha Castle-Hughes, with the spear), Nymeria (Jessica Henwick, the whip) and Tyene (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, rocking the daggers). We’ve also seen a closer look at their weapons, while Castle-Hughes said of the group:
We haven’t seen women like this on Game of Thrones before. You have lone wolves like Arya and Brienne, and others like Daenerys or Cersei, who are politically strong surrounded by men. But you haven’t seen women who are strong together and who collaborate – which is a dangerous thing. We’re three girls who are violent and manipulative who are thirsty for Lannister blood.
Elsewhere of Game of Thrones Season 5 (already renewed for 6, with the cast signed through 7), we know of multiple returning, confirmed absent, and new characters cast, confirming the show’s trip to Spain. The story will draw heavily from George R.R. Martin’s fourth and fifth novels, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, while HBO has also provided a list of directors, episodes synopses, and insight into which literary stories may not make the transition to film.
