Game of Thrones fans never lack for dragon appreciation, but there are diminishing returns to their escalation in size, and difficulty to portray onscreen. Leave it to Season 7 to make them even bigger, now estimating Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal to be the size of commercial jets.

First-time Game of Thrones director and Always Sunny vet Matt Shankman shared the tidbit with Entertainment Weekly, albeit without specifying how (or where) Daenerys might use her now airplane-sized babies. Worth noting, EW lists the airplane size with a 210' wingspan, while you-know-who had the biggest growth spurt:

The dragons this year are the size of 747s. Drogon is the biggest of the bunch — his flame is 30-feet in diameter!

Don’t forget, series creator George R.R. Martin previously shared an image of a fully-grown dragon from The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the World of Game of Thrones, looking about on par with a small airplane. Martin’s size estimates have often varied from HBO’s, as we’ve seen with the scaled-down Iron Throne before.

We’ll hear more of Game of Thrones Season 7 in the coming weeks, but how much dragon is too much?
