The Disney Channel's upcoming 'Boy Meets World' sequel/spin-off series 'Girl Meets World' has picked up a tremendous amount of steam this week, now that the series has been ordered to pilot with Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter in the roles of Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley Matthews, and Riley's Shawn Hunter-esque friend Maya Fox, respectively. Now, we've learned a bit more about the new Matthews family, as well as with who the students Riley and Maya will itneract, so get a sneak peek at the new 'Girl Meets World' cast inside!

Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage may be reprising the roles of Cory and Topanga for the Disney Channel's forthcoming spin-off series 'Girl Meets World,' but young stars Riley and Maya will have a cast of characters all their own. Entertainment Weekly obtained the casting sheets for several additional roles to be cast, including that of Riley's older brother Elliott Matthews, and her classmates Tristan Friar and Shamus Farkle (Minkus, anybody?)

Elliott Matthews, 13. Cory and Topanga’s son. This guy will start the series as a “thinking man’s jock.” He’s described as “good looking, well built, funny and insightful in his observations. Good hearted except for his dedication toward using Riley (Blanchard) as his wrestling practice dummy. His parents worry that he has inherited the ‘Eric Matthews Algernon’ gene and will lose intelligence as time goes by.”

Tristan Friar, 12-13. An Austin, Texas transplant who’s a “cowboy in the city.” His description: “He seems actually possessed of ethics, common sense and a value system making him immediately alien to everybody else except Riley, who believes it’s the value system that attracts her to want to be his friend even though he’s too good looking for her to look at.”

Shamus Farkle, 12-13: This is the show’s resident genius. “Future world ruler. Riley’s rebellious best friend Maya is his nemesis, Riley gets between them to save his life. Farkle is wildly attached and protective of both girls and loves equally that Riley doesn’t make him miserable and Maya does.”

Yesterday we pointed out what could be a play on words between "Maya Fox" and "Shawn Hunter," but it isn't hard to read into the nomenclature of "Tristan Friar" either. Topanga's maiden name stood as "Lawrence," which paired with "Friar," could be a reference to the similarly named 'Romeo and Juliet' character, while "Tristan" references another famous romantic legend.

Well, what say you? Are you excited to see 'Girl Meets World' now that you know more about the characters? Which original series stars would you like to see return?
