Good Girls Gone Bad: Jessica Biel Gets Nude to Escape ’7th Heaven’

Jessica Biel starred on the goody-goody TV drama ’7th Heaven,’ about a family of religious folk who struggle to reconcile their morality and Christianity with everyday problems. Every episode was pretty much an afterschool special, featuring stories about drugs, peer pressure, sex, and bullying — but, you know, with a preacher dad doling out the advice instead of a guy in a Cosby sweater. Biel struggled with her good girl persona, and in 2000, in an attempt to break free of her contract so she could move on to more interesting roles, she posed semi-nude for Gear magazine at the age of 17. It worked, and the producers were able to write her out of the show, though she reappeared in a handful of episodes later.
