Elizabeth Berkley is the example that comes to mind right away when you think of an actress with a clean image who dirtied it up at the first chance to do so. Immediately coming off of 'Saved by the Bell,' where she played feminist academic Jessie Spano, Berkley signed on to star in Paul Verhoeven's instant cult classic 'Showgirls,' as a stripper who will do anything to make it as a famous showgirl on the Vegas strip. The film was notoriously cheesy and tone deaf, struggling to be salacious and dramatic but ending up an unintentionally hilarious homage to Vegas white trash. Berkley did manage to flip the script on her uptight image by baring it all as the fame-starved Nomi Malone, but her career never quite recovered from it.
