The past year was a dramatic one for us all, but only one series can take home the Best Television Series, drama at the 2017 Golden Globe awards. We could spend a year watching all the TV choices out there, but The Crown has cemented itself above the rest by taking home the gold.

The Crown took home its award immediately after star Claire Foy won her own Golden Globe. Series creator Peter Morgan thanked the cast and crew as his own co-creators, though the entire acceptance was seemingly cut short by the award show's runtime.

The Crown won out over some stiff competition from the likes of NBC’s This Is Us, Netflix’s Stranger Things, HBO’s Game of Thrones, and newcomer Westworld. Last year, the first season of USA’s Mr. Robot won (notice no nomination for that second season), with Showtime’s The Affair taking home the award in 2015.

In any case, you can follow along with the full list of winners below, and stay tuned for more from the 2017 Golden Globe Awards. Did the HFPA make the right call with The Crown?
