We’re still a couple of years away from Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but that hasn’t kept us from speculating about the sequel—and it certainly hasn’t stopped James Gunn from dropping hints about it. We know that there will undoubtedly be some new additions to the cast as we delve deeper into the world of Guardians, and the intergalactic setting definitely opens the world up to so many possibilities and new characters. According to Gunn, one of those new characters is a personal favorite of the director.

Over at his Twitter account, Gunn was asked if he had a favorite superhero that he’d put on the big screen—the director responded in the affirmative, though wouldn’t confirm the identity of his favorite character:

Superhero Hype did their due diligence, recalling that Gunn has previously mentioned his affection for Beta Ray Bill, Starhawk and Adam Warlock. And as Slashfilm reminds us, we did see a cocoon that looked suspiciously like Warlock’s in the possession of the Collector in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. But all three of those superheroes seem like likely candidates.

There’s still the mystery of Star-Lord’s father, and perhaps that’s the character Gunn is referencing. Many have speculated that his father could be Starfox, Adam Warlock, or Starhawk. Make of that what you will.

We still have another two years to speculate before Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
