After debuting the first official trailer and a slew of "meet the cast" featurettes comes the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' poster, which lines up the principal cast members of Marvel's ambitious new cinematic universe installment. So, let's go ahead and actually meet the cast.

Chris Pratt leads this intergalactic band of misfits as Star-Lord, the Earth-born, stars-bound character who's starts out more of as a resourceful thief than an actual superhero. In order to save the universe (or, rather, "guard the galaxy"), he must unite Zoe Saldana's Gamora, Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel's Groot in a fight against Lee Pace's Ronan the Accuser and his minions.

The poster itself, which blares "You're Welcome" across the bottom, takes more of comedic tone compared to Marvel's other films. But seriously, do we need to be reminded that is from the studio that made 'Iron Man,' 'Thor,' 'Captain America' and 'The Avengers'? We can already expect a ton of playful gags to come what with Pratt, a 'Parks and Recreation' star, in the lead and a gun-slinging raccoon-looking alien bringing up the rear.

From the official Marvel logline for the film:

An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand–with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
