There's been plenty of speculation regarding who's playing who in Marvel's upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' so we're happy to report that we've gotten another answer: we now know what part John C. Reilly will play in the film.

[UPDATE: Previous reports that Reilly would be portraying Rhomann Dey (aka Nova Prime), leader of the Nova Corps and an Agent Coulson-type character for the 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' were in fact correct. After reporting that he'd play Ronan "The Accuser" Dey, Deadline retracted the statement, saying they got it backwards. Our apologies for the confusion (there's clearly a big difference between Ronan Dey and Rhomann Dey). Click here for our original article on John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey and, if you care, the rest of this piece is below.]

Deadline reports that John C. Reilly will officially be playing the role of Ronan "The Accuser" Dey in James Gunn's take on 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' This marks the first time Reilly has played a superhero, and it looks like his character isn't one of the good guys.

Ronan first showed up in Marvel's 'Fantastic Four' comic books as a villain with superhuman strength, endurance, and reflexes, as well as insane speed and an exoskeleton armor that can make him invisible. Superman who?

Ronan also totes a giant hammer known as the "universal weapon," similar to the one used by fellow Marvel star, Thor. But more interestingly, in some comics, Ronan is the son of villain Thanos, who we know will also be appearing in the film. And with Thanos' involvement in the 'Avengers' films, we're hoping this means we might see Reilly pop up in more Marvel movies.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' also stars Chris Pratt, Michael Rooker, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, and Benicio Del Toro, and is currently scheduled for an August 2014 release.
