Did you catch the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer? If not, then what are you doing?! Go watch that first and meet back here in about three minutes. If you did, congratulations, you enjoyed the trailer for looks like one of the craziest superhero movies ever. And, we mean crazy in the best possible way. 'Guardians of the Galaxy' looks hilarious, thrilling, epic, weird and wild - basically everything we were hoping from a 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movie.

There was a lot packed into our first look at the film, so we slowed it down, created a bunch of GIFs, got super nerdy and did a big deep dive into the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer to see what we could find out.

Peter Quill Steals One of the Infinity Gauntlet Gems

Previously, we had learned that the Tessaract from 'The Avengers' and the Aether from 'Thor 2' were actually both Infinity Gems, from the popular "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline. That will continue in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' as Peter Quill steals one of the remaining gems - the orb scene above - without knowing its true power. Ronan the Accuser, working for Thanos, is charged with retrieving that gem and the film is set in motion.

Meeting the Team

As noted by the Nova Corps agent (played by John C. Reilly), the Guardians are first arrested on Xandar, a spaceport in the Andromeda galaxy. They are Drax, Gamora, Rocket, Groot and Star-Lord.

Not noted here, but important to remember that Gamora is the adopted daughter of Thanos and starts off the film working for him alongside Ronan and Nebula (who we'll get to later). She goes rogue and that's where the trouble starts for her.

Here's Rocket, described as a "cybernetic/genetic experiment on a lower life form" on their guide.

Groot is basically Rocket's sidekick/muscle and the two have been traveling the galaxy together. He only says three words, "I AM GROOT" though we don't get to hear Vin Diesel's gravely rumble here.

This could be the first Marvel superhero ever convicted of a sex crime. Listed on Quill's on-screen rap sheet is "1 Count Sex Crime: Illegal manipulation of Gramosian Duchess" (the Gramosians are a humanoid race from the Milky Way). This is all while Star-Lord cranks up the middle finger to the Nova Corps (it's blurred out here, but wasn't in the Comic-Con footage).

Rocket and Groot Break Out of Prison

This takes place once the team is apprehended (after the lineups above) and their first act as a team: breaking out of prison. Here, we see best buds Rocket and Groot doing some of the heavy lifting.

Meet Nebula

Here's our first look at Karen Gillan, the 'Doctor Who' beauty who once had a head full of flowing red locks. She shaved herself bald to play Nebula, the ruthless space pirate working alongside Ronan to stop the Guardians and retrieve the Infinity Gem. With Gamora going rogue, and (in the comics anyway) Nebula also claiming to be a relative of Thanos, we'll expect some brimming tension between those two girls.

Gamora Wields the Godslayer

In the comics, Gamora possesses the powerful sword, the Godslayer. With it, Gamora has been called the "deadliest woman in the universe." She'll need it to battle against Ronan, Nebula and Thanos.

Our First Official Online Look at The Collector

If you saw 'Thor 2' in theaters and stayed for the post-credits scene, then you caught a glimpse of Benicio Del Toro as Taneleer Tivan, aka The Collector. He's the man who, when delivered one of the Infinity Gems, said menacingly, "One down, five to go" (in reference to collecting the entire Infinity Gauntlet). In the film, he lives in Knowhere, the severed head of a celestial beings where outer space aliens hang out. The Guardians travel to his home after breaking out of prison for more detail on the orb in their possession. Is The Collector an ally or a foe? Only time shall tell.

Rocket is a Bad-Ass

Everyone wondered how (or, perhaps even why) Marvel was going to make a superhero movie with a raccoon as a main character. Not only did they do it, Rocket looks to be the breakout star. How can you not love the idea of a smart ass raccoon whipping around a machine gun in space? And, we haven't even heard Bradley Cooper's voice yet.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' opens in theaters on August 1.
