The first 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer debuts tonight during 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' but Marvel already teased us with three hi-res images from the film, and now they released 15 seconds from the trailer itself -- because Marvel can't help but torture us with anticipation.

Taking moments from the footage screened at both San Diego Comic-Con and Disney's D23 Expo, these miniscule 15 seconds from the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer showcase this ragtag band of superhero misfits in action. Chris Pratt shed his former 'Parks and Recreation' vibe for that of Star-Lord, the hero who leads Zoe Saldana's Gamora, Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon (whom we can't wait to see firing off some rounds) and Vin Diesel's Groot (that tree-like alien whose only method of speech is shouting "GROOT!").

The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer teaser also gives us our first real looks at Nebula, the bald, blue-skinned villain (played by 'Doctor Who' star Karen Gillan) who works for the primary baddie, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). There's also a shot of Djimon Hounsou as Korath, among some various action-packed moments.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' is directed by James Gunn and is the most ambitious project from Marvel Studios to date, being that it's a relatively unknown property getting the big-screen treatment. From the official plot synopsis:

An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand–with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Check back later tonight to see the full 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer in all its glory! The film itself will hit theaters August 1.
