It's been a while since we've heard anything about a new installment in the 'Halloween' franchise, but it's still alive and kicking just like its unstoppable villain. Formerly titled 'Halloween 3D,' Dimension films is moving ahead with the newly retitled 'Halloween: The Next Chapter' -- just has a better ring to it.

While it's unclear if the new sequel will still be in 3D as its previous title suggested (please say no, please say no), Shock Till You Drop reports that Dimension is still moving ahead with plans for a new installment, now titled 'Halloween: The Next Chapter.' Not particularly an imaginative title, but at least it's accurate.

Details are scarce, but we do know that they're aiming to have the script completed by late 2015, which means we could see a new 'Halloween' film in 2016 or 2017. This would be the 11th film in the series, following the original franchise films which kicked off with John Carpenter's 1978 original. More recently, Rob Zombie delivered his 'Halloween' reboot in 2007, followed by a direct sequel, 'Halloween II,' in 2009. It's assumed that the new sequel will pick up where Zombie's films left off, in case any of you were wondering what Ghost Mom and her magical white horse have been up to since then.
