The 'Halo' movie isn't happening any time soon but this 'Halo 4' launch trailer plays very much like a movie trailer. Maybe that's because David Fincher produced the spot, which is short on gameplay but big on style.

Microsoft approached David Fincher and Tim Miller (who last collaborated on the innovating opening sequence for 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo') about creating the 'Halo 4' launch trailer. That they did and the result makes us wish that video game movies were less 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' and more like this.

'Halo 4' drops on November 6th and goes as follows:

Master Chief's mind is violated by a powerful new enemy, who in searching for Chief's weaknesses, finds the source of his strength.

You get a sense of that in this trailer as we see glimpses of how Master Chief and the rest of the Spartans were created in an impressive mix of live-action and computer animation. Watch the 'Halo 4' launch trailer below and hope one day we'll get a video game movie that's as good as some of the comic book movies we're watching (or maybe even better).
