At long last, HBO's rapturous new Damon Lindelof drama 'The Leftovers' will premiere its first episode this Sunday after an all-new 'True Blood,' telling the story of a world rocked by the sudden departure of 2% of the world's population. We've been anticipating this one for a long time, but why wait for Sunday when the first two clips and full photos from the 'Leftovers' premiere are available right now?
Our first clip from HBO's 'The Leftovers' takes us inside the traumatic event itself, as a woman (Natalie Gold) finds her son suddenly missing from the backseat of her car, as disappearances all around the immediate vicinity appear to take their toll on others. Flashing forward a few years later, series lead Kevin Garvey worries that the mysterious "Guilty Remnant" will look to explain a public gathering of remembrance for those lost in the Sudden Departure.
For those unfamiliar, HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ follows those left behind on Earth after a rapture of sorts, those not chosen to be taken up to Heaven, or at least so a portion of the population believes of the disappearance. Adapted from Tom Perrotta’s 2009 novel of the same name, the show’s pilot was directed by Peter Berg (‘Lone Survivor‘).
The Leftovers’ also stars Justin Theroux, Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Amanda Warren, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Michael Gaston, Max Carver, Charlie Carver, Annie Q, Paterson Joseph, Brad Leland, ‘Private Practice‘ vet Amy Brenneman, and ‘Fringe‘ star Emily Meade.
Take a look at either clip above and below, as well as the photos, and tell us if you'll rapture any interest in Damon Lindelof's 'The Leftovers' in its premiere this Sunday!
