'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' is less than a week away from release and they're still releasing new trailers and TV spots. At this point, it's no longer about convincing people to see it (most audiences already made that decision back in 2003 with the release of the final 'Lord of the Rings' film) and more about keeping the fans excited and aware...as if they weren't already. The newest (and final?) spot for the film leans heavy on special effects, action and everyone's favorite psychotic, ring-loving scoundrel, Gollum.

Most of the marketing for 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' has focused on the film as a prequel to 'Lord of the Rings,' using nostalgia, familiar musical cues and beloved characters to get audiences to journey back to Middle Earth. However, this thirty second spot goes after the people who watched the original trilogy for the technical wizardry, namely the massive battles and the creatures. There is probably more action crammed into this spot than all of the other trailers combined.

And, of course, there's Gollum, whose scenes give structure to the whole thing. Audiences may not know Martin Freeman's Bilbo yet, but they certainly remember Gollum. Thanks to this film, expect the moratorium on "my precioussss" jokes to be lifted for a little while.
