As always, the extended Memorial Day weekend proved to be a busy couple of days at the box office, with 'Fast and Furious 6' shattering every expectation in its first three days of release (as we reported right here). Meanwhile, 'The Hangover Part 3', uh, did not. But this is a four day weekend! How are both films looking to fare when the holidays are over and all of the dust has settled?

Well, 'The Hangover Part 3' didn't pull off a grand comeback, but 'Fast and Furious 6' certainly proved that it ruled the holiday roost. Current estimates have the ludicrous/awesome action film taking in another $23 million today, bringing its grand total to $120 million. And that's just domestic! The film has already broken the $300 million mark worldwide, putting it on the fast track to being the most successful film in the franchise and one of the high points of the summer season.

Right below it, 'The Hangover Part 3' is looking to pull in another $9 million today, bringing it to $63 million after five days. For many comedies, that would be pretty terrific, but it's so far below the numbers made by the first two films that it's worthy of a raised eyebrow or two. It seems that audiences really were burned by 'The Hangover Part II' (which still managed to make $254 million).

Although 'Fast and Furious 6' has the spotlight, the box office high point of the summer remains 'Iron Man 3,' which has now made $1.1 billion worldwide, becoming the fifth highest grossing movie of all time (before inflation). What can we say? People love Iron Man.
